Western Coventry Fire Department Fire Chief James Cady has announced he plans to retire this fall. The Fire District Board of Directors has appointed a Chief’s Selection Committee to solicit input from interested candidates for the Chief’s position. Read more here

On May 29, WCFD was responding to a medical call on Victory Highway. Engine 8 was on the side of the road and while members were exiting, a vehicle struck the engine causing substantial injuries. Read more about this incident here and here.

Read Steve's letter to the taxpayers of the Western Coventry Fire District

The Western Coventry Fire District will be accepting ‘Letters of Intent’ from December 1, 2023 thru December 31, 2023 at mid-night (2400 hrs.), to hold a District Office Position. This election will be held at the Annual District Meeting on April 1, 2024.


The Western Coventry Fire District is requesting bids for performing an audit of the district’s financial statements for the fiscal year ending February 29, 2024 with the option of auditing the financial statements for two additional years.

Bid packages may be obtained in person at 1110 Victory Highway, by email, or by calling WCFD at 401-397-7520 or the Treasurer at 401-374-2813.

All bids must be received by the District Clerk to 1110 Victory Highway, Greene, RI by 7:00pm on February 29, 2024.
